- Crystal Palace previously eyed Wilson Isidor
- Haitian forward wants out of Sunderland
- Black Cats demanded hefty fee last summer
Crystal Palace will be on alert as Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor reportedly wants to leave the Premier League club. The Haitian only joined the Black Cats last summer after signing the year prior.
Isidor headed to the Stadium of Light from Russian outfit Zenit Saint Petersburg for £5m. He has grown frustrated with his game time, without a start in each of Regis Le Bris’s side’s last five league games.
The 25-year-old has appeared 34 times across competitions, posting five goals. He comes with plenty of experience having previously spent time at AS Monaco and Lokomotiv Moscow.

Isidor Becomes a Crystal Palace Opportunity
Isidor could be an option for Palace as they prepare to bolster their attack this summer. Jean-Philippe Mateta still looks set to be sold, and Getafe have confirmed that Christantus Uche’s loan won’t become permanent because the conditions haven’t been met.
According to SunSport, Sunderland rejected offers for Isidor after he spent last season on loan at Zenit as part of their permanent deal. Their asking price is £25m and this “put potential buyers off.”
Palace are believed to have shown late interest in signing the Haitian attacker, dubbed “excellent” by former Sunderland striker Marco Gabbiadini, on loan in January. Perhaps that’s why they eventually turned to Evann Guessand in January.
There’s no word on whether the Eagles will revive their interest, but Uche’s departure could play a part. But the South London outfit weren’t the only ones interested.
Everton and Nottingham Forest lodged enquiries about a permanent move, and Burnley also set their sights on him late in the winter window. The Black Cats might have to lower their asking price, but aren’t expected to stand in the way of the player.
Palace Seem Focused on Sinayoko
Isidor might be one for Steve Parish’s transfer chiefs to add to their attacking wishlist. But they might snub the Sunderland man given their interest in AJ Auxerre’s Lassine Sinayoko.
Palace are reportedly interested in bringing the Malian frontman to Selhurst Park and feel he’s the “ideal candidate” to replace Mateta. That could mean Isidor arrives as Uche’s replacement and the Eagles strengthen with two new forward signings.
Jorgen Strand Larsen joined in January for a club record £48m but the Norweigan has lost his starting berth to Mateta over the past month. There will seemingly be plenty of changes up top and it’s important to remember this summer’s business will be conducted for a new manager.
