- Oliver Glasner set for AC Milan after leaving Crystal Palace
- Italians moving for Austrian over Arne Slot
- Zlatan Ibrahimovic wanted ex-Liverpool boss
Oliver Glasner’s next job after leaving Crystal Palace looks set to be head coach of AC Milan. The Austrian left Selhurst Park after guiding the Eagles to UEFA Conference League glory.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Gerry Cardinale, who is overseeing Milan’s new project, has got his way at the expense of club legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The club’s investor is prioritising Glasner over former Liverpool boss Arne Slot.
Milan are searching for a Massimiliano Allegri replacement after the Italian football coach was sacked. They are edging closer to appointing Glasner as their new manager.
Milan choose Glasner over Slot
The report also claims that Milan’s pursuit of Slot has ended after Cardinale imposed his choice over Ibrahimovic’s. He wants Glasner to take the reins at the San Siro.
A deal is expected to be finalised soon, meaning the greatest manager in Palace history heads to Italy. He has yet to coach in Serie A, having previously spent time in Austria with LASK and Germany with Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Oliver Glasner is the most successful coach in the South London outfit’s history. He guided the Eagles to the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League.
Palace vs Glasner?
Crystal Palace fans will no doubt have an eye on Italian football should Glasner indeed replace Allegri. He won the hearts of supporters during his time at Selhurst Park.
The Austrian has a huge job on his hands as Milan are sleeping giants. They finished fifth in Serie A this season, failing to qualify for the Champions League.
There is a chance that Palace will meet Glasner next season as Milan will be competing in the Europa League. That’s the same competition their likely new manager has helped the Eagles qualify for.
