Romano update reveals Glasner stance as Feyenoord join AC Milan race
  • Oliver Glasner next club looks to be AC Milan
  • Feyenoord interested but not his preference
  • Ex Crystal Palace boss is in demand

The Oliver Glasner saga has taken a fresh twist with Feyenoord entering the picture, but according to Fabrizio Romano, the former Crystal Palace boss is prioritising AC Milan.

Glasner is being linked with the Feyenoord job following the dismissal of Robin Van Persie over the weekend, but Romano confirmed the Austrian is waiting for news from Milan.

Interest from the Dutch side is genuine and concrete, but the former Palace manager’s top priority remains the Rossoneri. Glasner is expecting news from Milan this week and will only then evaluate offers from other clubs.

Glasner wants AC Milan

Glasner has emerged as AC Milan’s leading candidate after a lengthy six-hour meeting with owner Gerry Cardinale and advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The former Palace boss has reportedly also put forward two names for the sporting director role, preferring to work with a German-speaking director, naming Christoph Freund of Bayern Munich and Marcel Schafer of RB Leipzig as his choices.

For Palace fans, the departure of Glasner represents the end of an extraordinary chapter. The Austrian guided the Eagles to the FA Cup, the club’s first-ever major trophy, the Community Shield, and the UEFA Conference League during his two years in charge at Selhurst Park. Lifting the Conference League trophy in his final act as Palace manager.

Why the San Siro?

Milan are undergoing a complete overhaul after sacking head coach Massimiliano Allegri, director of sport Igli Tare, CEO Giorgio Furlani and technical director Geoffrey Moncada. They need a bold appointment, and Glasner is their top choice given his European experience.

Glasner has given Milan the green light, and they appear to be in the driving seat, but the emergence of Feyenoord as a genuine alternative adds pressure to finalise a deal. There’s every chance of him returning to Selhurst Park in the Europa League next season.
