Crystal Palace have already started their preparations for the new season under manager Pierre Sage, who was brought in to replace Oliver Glasner, arguably the greatest manager ever to have taken charge of the Eagles.
As a result, Sage will now look to live up to the expectations of the fans during the new campaign, but just like any other summer, some of their top players are now really close to being lured away by clubs with deep pockets.
Palace on the other hand seemingly have a lot to do, if they are to give Sage a level playing ground during the upcoming season. So far, they have only been able to sign Oscar Mingueza on a free transfer this summer.
The Eagles are yet to bring in a replacement for Marc Guehi, who joined Manchester City during the winter transfer window and Maxence Lacroix seems to be getting closer to a move to Chelsea, as the Blues carry on with their negotiations for the transfer of the French centre-back.
Crystal Palace wary of loosing their top scorers
A similar situation is also arising in Sage’s attacking line-up, as two of the Eagles’ top scorers during the previous campaign, Jean-Philipe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr have attracted a lot of interest following their brilliant displays.
The duo combined for a total of 37 goals last season. Mateta has already been linked with a number of top European clubs over the past few weeks. Now, it seems his partner up top is slowly becoming the talk of the town.
Manchester United shows interest in Ismaila Sarr
According to recent report from Foot Mercato, Manchester United are keeping an eye on Crystal Palace’s 28-year-old forward Ismaila Sarr.
Sarr’s brilliant performance last season has now made him one of the attacking options, who Manchester United are currently following as they look to strengthen their squad before the start of the new season.
The Senegalese international racked up a total of 21 goals during the previous campaign while playing behind Mateta, mostly as a winger or a second striker.
Sarr’s brilliant form
Sarr was particularly influential in Palace’s Conference League triumph last season, as he scored nine goals in the tournament and also got adjudged as the player of the tournament.
The 28-year-old seemingly carried his form into the World Cup, as he scored four goals and provided two assists during this edition of the tournament. Senegal narrowly crashed out in the round of 32 against Belgium.
Whether Palace will be willing to let Sarr leave this summer is still not known yet, but the prospect of playing in the Champions League with Manchester United will certainly be tough for the Senegalese international to reject, if the Reds come calling at some point during this transfer window.
