Chelsea have moved ahead of Liverpool in the next-club market for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, according to talkSPORT’s latest odds update.
talkSPORT reports that Chelsea now lead the betting around Wharton’s future, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham also tracked in the wider market.
Palace have shown no sign that they want to invite a sale. Flashscore previously reported that the Eagles valued Wharton at around £100m, with the midfielder under contract until 2029.
That contract gives Palace control. It also gives Steve Parish and the recruitment team room to resist the usual pressure when richer Premier League clubs start circling.
Palace Hold Strong Wharton Position
ReadCrystalPalace has already covered how Palace remain confident of keeping Wharton as Liverpool interest cools. Chelsea’s place at the front of the betting market changes the noise, but not the basic position.
Wharton, 22, has become one of Palace’s most important players. His passing range, calmness under pressure and ability to dictate midfield tempo make him central to Pierre Sage’s plans.
He also represents the strongest version of Palace’s recruitment model. The club bought elite Championship talent early, gave him Premier League responsibility and now hold the strongest negotiating card.
The interest will not disappear. Chelsea, Liverpool, United and Tottenham all need midfield quality in different ways. Wharton’s age, nationality and contract length make him an obvious target.
But Palace do not need to move quickly. Unless a suitor makes a nine-figure offer, their smartest decision is to keep Wharton at the centre of Sage’s rebuild and let the market chase them.
