Chelsea eye another Crystal Palace defender after Lacroix deal

Crystal Palace face growing Daniel Muñoz transfer interest after Chelsea, Barcelona and AC Milan reportedly added the defender to their summer shortlists.

The Colombia international enhanced his reputation during the World Cup, scoring twice while operating from the right side.

El Universal reports that three major European clubs are now assessing possible moves for Muñoz.

However, no formal offer has been submitted to Palace. The 30-year-old also remains under contract at Selhurst Park until June 2028, leaving the Eagles under no immediate pressure to sell.

Daniel Muñoz transfer interest creates Crystal Palace decision

Chelsea know Muñoz’s qualities from his Premier League performances and have the financial resources to pursue a deal.

Barcelona are also assessing right-back options, while Milan could offer the Colombian his first opportunity to play in Serie A.

Any interested club should expect Palace to demand a substantial fee. Muñoz provides attacking quality, defensive energy and the ability to operate as either a full-back or wing-back.

His importance has increased during a summer of defensive change. Palace have already lost Marc Guéhi, while Maxence Lacroix is moving towards a Chelsea transfer.

ReadCrystalPalace recently examined how Jaydee Canvot could respond to the departures of Guéhi and Lacroix. Pierre Sage should not be forced to replace another established defender during the same window.

Muñoz’s contract gives Steve Parish control of the situation. Palace can reject speculative interest unless an exceptional proposal arrives.

The Daniel Muñoz transfer interest reflects his performances for club and country. However, retaining him should remain a priority as Sage prepares Palace for domestic and European competition.
