Palace target experienced Chelsea star after Lacroix exit

Crystal Palace are interested in signing Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on loan as Pierre Sage continues rebuilding his defence following Maxence Lacroix’s departure.

The transfer would provide the Eagles with an experienced Premier League option alongside their pursuit of Brest youngster Raphael Le Guen.

Alan Nixon reports, via GIVEMESPORT, that Palace have identified Disasi as one of their options for a senior centre-back this summer.

The 28-year-old is surplus to requirements at Chelsea and is expected to leave Stamford Bridge again after spending the second half of last season on loan at West Ham. Palace currently favour another temporary agreement, although Disasi would prefer a permanent departure.

Axel Disasi Crystal Palace transfer could complement Le Guen deal

Palace’s interest comes after Lacroix completed his £52million move to Chelsea, leaving Sage without one of his most experienced defenders.

The Eagles are simultaneously working on a permanent deal for 19-year-old Raphael Le Guen. The Brest defender has already agreed personal terms with Palace, according to L’Équipe, although an agreement between the clubs is still required.

ReadCrystalPalace previously examined why Palace want Le Guen as part of their plans to replace Lacroix. The teenager has only six senior Ligue 1 appearances, so adding an established defender alongside him would reduce the immediate pressure on his development.

Disasi offers extensive Premier League experience and can operate centrally or on the right of a back three. His previous spells with Aston Villa and West Ham also mean he would require little adaptation to English football.

The Axel Disasi Crystal Palace transfer remains at an early stage. However, a loan could allow Palace to replace some of Lacroix’s experience without using a large portion of the £52m received from Chelsea.
