Let’s be honest: every Palace fan who has watched Jesurun Rak-Sakyi tear up youth football knows the lad has got absolute magic in his boots.
He’s direct, fearless on the ball, and that left foot cutting in from the right wing is pure filth when he gets going. But as another transfer deadline approaches, rumours are swirling that Wrexham and Burnley are ready to pounce on a permanent deal.
According to Football League World, both Championship play-off hopefuls are eyeing up our 23-year-old winger as they look to inject genuine match-winning quality into their forward lines before the window slams shut. While it always stings seeing one of Copers Cope Road’s finest walk out the door, you have to admit Jes might have reached a crossroads in South London.
Why Wrexham and Burnley are bidding for Jesurun
Both clubs are lining up serious promotion pushes this season, and neither is playing around in the market.
- Wrexham: Phil Parkinson’s side are looking to push their summer spending past the £20m mark. Wrexham travel across Wales to kick off their campaign against Cardiff City and desperately need a left-footed creator. Having missed out on Joe Gelhardt (who returned to Hull City) and facing stiff competition from Norwich for Augustine Boakye, Parkinson has turned his attention to Rak-Sakyi. Jesurun’s versatility able to play wide on the right or right in behind a central striker makes him a mouth-watering target for the Red Dragons.
- Burnley: The Clarets opened their campaign with a 2-2 draw against West Ham, and while they’ve already brought in Lluc Castell and Chelsea loan signing Dastan Satpayev, they want extra dynamism out wide. Rak-Sakyi’s ability to drive at full-backs and carry the ball up the pitch gives them a completely different gear in transition.
A proven EFL threat
We know what Jesurun can do when he’s given a proper run of games. Look at his track record when allowed to express himself:
- Charlton Athletic (2022/23): A staggering 15 goals and 8 assists across all competitions, winning their Player of the Year award and proving he was far too good for League One.
- Sheffield United (2024/25): Stepped up to the Championship, bagging 7 goals in 35 appearances and playing a massive part in taking the Blades all the way to the play-off final.
His recent 2025/26 campaign was a bit more unsettled split between a spell out in Turkey with Rizespor and a brief loan stint at Stoke City which is precisely why Wrexham and Burnley think they can swoop in and land him on a cut-price deal.
The Palace Perspective: Is a permanent move Best for everyone?
For Palace fans, it’s a tough pill to swallow. they love seeing academy lads step out under the Selhurst Park lights, but with system demanding such specific physical and tactical profiles, Jesurun’s clear pathway into the first team has stalled.
He’s entering the final stretch of his contract, and after four separate loan spells away from SE25, he deserves a home where he can be the guy every Saturday. If a £15m valuation drops to a reasonable fee, letting him join an ambitious project like Wrexham or Burnley might be the fairest move for his career even if we’ll be watching his highlights on EFL quest with a bit of envy.
