Crystal Palace have officially confirmed the permanent return of Ben Chilwell, just days after the move was first reported.
The England international has rejoined the Eagles from RC Strasbourg. Crystal Palace had previously brought up the prospect of a return after Chilwell’s successful loan spell, and the club have now made it official. Readcrystalpalace.com earlier reported the interest in a potential move back to Selhurst Park.
Ben Chilwell spent the latter part of the 2024/25 season at Selhurst Park after arriving from Chelsea. He made 11 appearances, scored once and finished the spell in the best possible way by helping Palace win the FA Cup at Wembley.
Ben Chilwell is back at Crystal Palace
The 29-year-old spent last season with Strasbourg, making 34 appearances and even facing Palace in the UEFA Conference League.
Now, he is back where he enjoyed one of the most memorable spells of his career.
“It’s amazing to be back. It’s nice to see some familiar faces, and I’m just really excited to get back in, see the boys and the fans – and get going again.”
Ben Chilwell began his senior career at Leicester City, making 123 appearances before moving to Chelsea in August 2020. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he won the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup.
He has also represented England 21 times, scoring once, and was part of the side that reached the Euro 2020 final.
His return now becomes Palace’s eleventh signing of the summer, following Oscar Mingueza, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Dwight McNeil, Evann Guessand, Anan Khalaili, Zavier Gozo, Axel Disasi, Quinten Timber, Dario Osorio and Honest Ahanor.
After helping deliver FA Cup glory during his first spell, Ben Chilwell is back and ready to write another chapter at Selhurst Park.
