Crystal Palace have opened negotiations with Dean Henderson over a new long-term contract as the club look to secure the future of their first-choice goalkeeper.
According to The Athletic, formal discussions are now underway with Dean Henderson, who has two years remaining on the five-year deal he signed after joining from Manchester United in 2023 for around £20 million.
Dean Henderson has become a Palace leader
Dean Henderson has made 119 appearances for Crystal Palace across all competitions, keeping 38 clean sheets in the process.
He is now the undisputed first choice between the posts and took on an even bigger role after Marc Guehi’s departure to Manchester City in January. Henderson was subsequently named club captain.
Henderson played a huge role in Palace’s recent trophy success, starting with the 2024/25 FA Cup final. He produced a crucial penalty save to deny Omar Marmoush, helping the Eagles secure the trophy at Wembley.
The goalkeeper then continued his fine form into the following season, helping Palace lift the FA Community Shield in 2025 before playing a major part in their historic UEFA Conference League triumph last season.
With Palace now under Pierre Sage, keeping Henderson tied down for longer would give the new manager a proven presence behind his defence.
There is still work to do before an agreement is reached, but Palace have clearly made retaining their captain and number one a priority.
After everything Henderson has delivered since moving to South London, a new long-term deal would be a strong statement from the Eagles about where they see him in their future.
