Crystal Palace international round-up: Kamada, Gozo and Timber feature

Crystal Palace have seen a number of their players head away on international duty during the September-October break, with several already making an impact for their countries.

Daichi Kamada played the second half as Japan secured a 3-1 friendly win over Uruguay at Miyagi Stadium on Thursday. He was introduced at half-time with the score level, before Japan scored twice in stoppage time to complete the comeback.

Japan will next face Venezuela before beginning their Kirin Cup campaign against Ecuador. Their final fixture of the window will come against either New Zealand or Panama, depending on the result against Ecuador.

Zavier Gozo debuts for USA

Summer signing Zavier Gozo also made his senior international debut for the USA. The 19-year-old came off the bench in the 62nd minute as Mauricio Pochettino’s side beat Peru 4-1 in Orlando.

Chris Richards was not involved in the match because of load management. The defender will hope to add to his 40 senior caps during the remainder of the window.

Difficult afternoon for Quinten Timber

Quinten Timber also made his first international appearance since joining Palace. He started in midfield alongside Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch and Tijjani Reijnders at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

He ended up playing 57 minutes for the Netherlands in their 1-1 draw with Germany before being replaced by Joey Veerman.

The Dutchman had a difficult evening and was heavily criticised for his performance by Dutch media. His display was particularly called out by Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen, as covered by our earlier story. He called Timber ‘the worst Dutchman’ against Germany.

More Palace players involved around Europe

Jorgen Strand Larsen was an unused substitute as Norway opened their Nations League Group campaign with a 3-2 victory over Denmark in Oslo. Norway will now face Portugal before finishing the window with away games against Wales and Portugal.

Yeremy Pino was another unused substitute as Spain beat England 3-2 at Wembley. Spain will next host Croatia before travelling to Czechia and facing Croatia again.

Honest Ahanor was also left on the bench as Italy suffered a 2-0 defeat to Belgium. Italy will next travel to Türkiye before facing France and then hosting Türkiye.

Jaydee Canvot, meanwhile, completed 90 minutes for France Under-21s in their 1-1 draw with Iceland. France U21 remain top of Group C on 17 points after seven games, with qualifiers against Estonia, Luxembourg and Switzerland still to come.

Ismaila Sarr missed Senegal’s opening AFCON 2027 qualifier against Mozambique, which finished 1-1. Senegal will next face Ethiopia before a friendly against Comoros in Marseille.

Dario Osorio played 76 minutes as Chile lost 1-0 to Canada in Toronto. He was replaced by Ben Brereton Díaz and could now face his Palace teammates Richards and Gozo when Chile meet the USA in St. Louis.

With several Palace players already seeing action, the remainder of the international window will provide further opportunities for those still waiting to feature.
