Port Vale confident of Inniss Loan Deal

Port Vale are looking to secure Crystal Palace defender Ryan Inniss on another loan deal this upcoming season if he signs a new contract at the club as they currently can’t afford to sign the 20-year-old on a free transfer, reports Mike Baggaley of the Stoke Sentinel.

The 20-year-old made five appearances for the League One side at the end of last season with wins being secured in all but one game that Inniss featured in after picking up an injury before a loan extension at the club at the hands of a challenge with Marcus Tudgay of Coventry, in a game that he was stretched off after 36 minutes.

Inisss was linked with a move to the League One side earlier on in the summer after being offered a professional deal by Crystal Palace but with the matter of compensation, Rob Page’s side are looking for alternatives with a loan deal being the most likely outcome with both parties gaining benefits from this arrangement.

Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke, Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite said that he is positive about a deal being reached if he signs a new contract with the Eagles:

“Ryan has been taken into account in the budget. He needs to sign his contract with Crystal Palace and then hopefully they will give us a year loan with effect from the beginning of the season, but before for the purposes of pre-season.

“So, Ryan is included in the figure that we’ve done.

“I have spent a lot of time with the chairman of Crystal Palace and with the CEO there over the last three months, both physically with them and also dialogue.

“He’s a talented player. To be honest with you we couldn’t afford to take him as one of our players because Crystal Palace would want about £600,000 compensation which is way out of our league.

“So they will rely on him to sign, which I believe he will, and then they will look to get him out on loan to us because they are happy about the experience, how comfortable he was with us and how we looked after him.”
