Palace turn down £8m bid for Dann

Everton have finally firmed up their interest in Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann this week having submitted an £8m offer, reports the Mirror.

However, manager Alan Pardew is eager to hold on to his strongest defender, and has demanded that any interested party would need to pay at least double what Everton are offering. The Liverpool-born defender flourished under Pardew last season and has been an integral part of Palace’s mid-season turnaround in the Premier League, that saw them finish just inside the top half of the table.

Following the departure of Sylvain Distin to Bournemouth earlier on in the summer, Everton manager Roberto Martinez has made Dann his top defensive target in the window, having already missed out on Juventus’ Angelo Ogbonna, who set to join West Ham in the coming days.

Martinez is expected to return with an improved bid for the Englishman after seeing his first offer turned down.
