Eagles plot January move for Algerian forward

Crystal Palace are reportedly eyeing a move for Algerian international forward Islam Slimani this January, according to the Evening Standard.

Despite the interest, however, it’s thought the hefty price tag Sporting Lisbon may demand – an eye-watering £14m – could dissuade the Eagles.

Sporting are currently top of the Portuguese league, with Slimani scoring seven goals in his ten games to help get them there.

Clear of Porto by five points, Verde-e-Brancos are all set for their first title push for 14 years.

They’re currently under the tutelage and guidance of Jorge Jesus, who of course was so successful at fellow Lisboners, Benfica.

Slimani is currently a key part of Sporting’s side and their current table-topping form, so any move for the 27-year-old is looking tough unless Palace pay up, of course.

Alan Pardew is, supposedly, a big fan of Slimani, and has had him scouted a number of times.

The Evening Standard also report that Slimani’s price may drop to nearer £10m in the summer, where the Algerian may become a slightly more realistic and attractive proposition.
