According to Italian source Il Messaggero, Lazio are preparing a shock move to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
After losing star man and Italian international Antonio Candreva to Inter Milan this summer, Lazio are in the market for another winger to add to their ranks.
They tried and failed to sign Enner Valencia from West Ham and have also looked into signing Adnan Januzaj from Manchester United in a £10m deal but now Zaha is someone they’re looking at.
The former Manchester United star has enjoyed a rejuvenated career since returning to Crystal Palace initially on loan in August 2014 which was made permanent the following summer for just £3.25m.
Last season, Zaha had arguably his strongest season performance wise in a Palace shirt, showing that he’s really started to mature as Premier League winger, making 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and assisting in seven more.
Following the arrival of Andros Townsend from Newcastle, Alan Pardew has four quality wingers at his disposal in Townsend, Zaha, Yannick Bolasie and Bakary Sako and it would make sense for one of the latter three players to leave the club this summer if Palace receive a strong offer as it’s impossible to give them all enough game-time to satisfy them.
