Palace make bid for Abdul Majeed Waris

Crystal Palace have made a bid for Lorient striker Abdul Majeed Waris according to France Football. The club have been looking for strikers all summer, and despite signing Christian Benteke from Liverpool last week could go back into the market with just days left before it closes.

France Football are reporting that the bid for the Ghanaian is around €12 million (£10.2 million), but Lorient are in no rush to sell with Waris still under contract for another three years.

Benteke became the club-record signing for The Eagles after arriving from Liverpool in a £27 million deal, but Palace are still struggling for goals having netted just once in their opening three league games. Dwight Gayle has also been sold for £10 million, joining Newcastle in the Championship, potentially allowing Waris to come in and find goals.

The 24-year-old moved to Lorient last summer in a €4.5 million move, and showed good form in Ligue 1 especially. Despite playing only 20 games, he still managed to get on the scoresheet 11 times, as well as another in the cup. This season has seen him start three league games already, although Waris is yet to find the net in any of them.

Waris also has four goals in 12 senior international games for Ghana.
