Palace offered the chance to sign Assombalonga in January swap deal

Crystal Palace have reportedly been given the chance to sign Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga in January.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Palace have enquired about the possibility of bringing the player in next month, in a deal that could see Connor Wickham head in the opposite direction.

Talks surrounding a deal are believed to be ongoing ahead of the January window.

Both Boro and his former side Sunderland are keen to land Wickham, who has fallen out of favour at Palace after a string of injuries.

Assombalonga has been a highly regarded Championship striker for some time now but has not always been Tony Pulis’ first choice at Middlesbrough.

There are now suggestions that he could be on the move in January and he is likely to jump at the chance to play Premier League football.

Palace are in desperate need of a striker in the new year and may be forced to drop into the Championship to find their man.
