- Crystal Palace make contact for Juventus’ Cabal
- The Colombian’s future is uncertain
- Borna Sosa could make way
Crystal Palace have reportedly made contact with Juventus over a potential deal to sign left-back Juan Cabal. The Eagles are already in the market for a new centre-back this summer.
The Eagles are believed to have drawn up a list of targets which includes Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez. Steve Parish’s recruitment staff appear to have added Cabal to their overall wishlist.
Cabal’s future is uncertain, and Juve are believed to be looking to sell several players this summer. He has endured an injury-plagued season, but also failed to earn a starting berth in Luciano Spalletti’s side.
Palace in For Cabal
According to Tuttosport, Palace have made “initial contact” and are evaluating the Colombian’s price tag. There’s no word on how much he will cost but the 25-year-old has three years left on his contract.
Cabal has been at the Allianz Stadium since July 2024, arriving from Hellas Verona in a £12.5 million deal. He offers a versatile profile, able to play at left-back, on the left wing and in central defence.
There is a good chance that Daniel Munoz and Jefferson Lerma play important roles in a potential move. The Colombian duo will be representing their country alongside the Juve star during this week’s international break and could help convince him to make the switch.
Cabal has made 19 appearances across competitions this season, posting two goals and one assist. He was on Manchester United’s radar before heading to Turin.
Borna Sosa’s Future in Doubt
Palace signed Borna Sosa from Ajax last summer for £3m to give Tyrick Mitchell fresh competition at left-back. The Croatian has failed to impress since arriving at Selhurst Park and might already be headed for the exit door.
A move for Cabal might be with Sosa’s struggles in mind, although any decision will likely be made without Oliver Glasner’s input. The Austrian manager is leaving his role in June, and a new face will be in the dugout come next season.
That man might be Andoni Iraola amid reports claiming the Eagles are considering making a shock move to appoint him. The Spaniard, currently at Bournemouth, has worked wonders at the Vitality and might fancy the challenge of helping the Croat bounce back.
Sosa has appeared just five times in the Premier League this season and hasn’t started a single game. He could be one to watch this summer, even if the club don’t proceed with pursuing Cabal.
