- Crystal Palace make Moustapha Mbow ‘offer’
- Two other Premier League clubs keen
- Liverpool enquire
Crystal Palace are reportedly one of three Premier League clubs to submit a ‘significant offer’ for Paris FC defender Moustapha Mbow. The Senegalese centre-back has earned praise during an impressive season in Ligue 1.
The 26-year-old has been a mainstay in Antoine Kombouare’s defence, appearing 33 times across competitions. He has spent the majority of his career in French football, joining the capital club from Stade Reims in the summer of 2023.
Palace’s desire to sign a new centre-back has felt like less of a priority as the season has progressed. Jaydee Canvot’s incredible debut campaign has lessened the need to sign a Marc Guehi replacement.
Palace Make Mbow Offer
Oliver Glasner has been able to play Canvot alongside Chris Richards and Maxence Lacroix in his back three. He also has Chadi Riad as an option on the bench and there are several youngsters shining in defence at youth level.
That said, Palace might be keen to add more experience to their squad ahead of Glasner being replaced in the summer. A report from French outlet RMC suggests Mbow is firmly in their sights.
The Eagles, Fulham, and West Ham United are all said to have sent “significant offers” to Mbow’s camp. The player is unsure about his future and could stay at Paris FC and sign a new contract.
Liverpool have “quietly enquired” about bringing him to Anfield. He is one to watch as we enter the summer transfer window.
Mbow’s current deal expires in the summer of 2028, meaning he’ll have two years left on it. The Senegalese could link up with fellow countryman Ismaila Sarr if he were to make the move to Selhurst Park.
There’s no word on a fee, but Mbow has been highly regarded in French football. He is described as being “formidable in duels” and possessing “endurance and speed.”
Mbow Not The Only Option
Palace aren’t only linked with Mbow but also Brazilian centre-back Natan. The Real Betis man is another defender who could be playing in the Premier League come next season.
Reports claim that the South Londoners, West Ham, Leeds United and Brentford are all eyeing the 25-year-old. Unlike Mbow, there is a price in mind, with Betis thought to be demanding around €40m to sell.
Natan and Mbow are evidently strong options to bolster Palace’s defence. But they aren’t necessities and the focus should be on signing at least one new midfielder.
Daichi Kamada is set to leave when his contract expires in June. Adam Wharton could follow suit given he’s reportedly in negotiations with Liverpool.
