Crystal Palace have been handed a sharper transfer-market warning after Folarin Balogun’s World Cup form pushed his Monaco future further into focus.
David Ornstein reports that Balogun is expected to leave Monaco this summer, with no talks over a new deal and Premier League interest building.
Monaco are anticipated to seek around €50million for the 24-year-old striker, whose contract runs until 2028.
Balogun has already become a live World Cup story. U.S. Soccer credited him with a first-half brace in the United States’ 4-1 win over Paraguay, while the USA have since moved into the last 32.
Folarin Balogun Price Sets Palace Test
That timing matters for Palace.
The Eagles have already been linked with the former Arsenal forward, and Read Crystal Palace previously noted how Balogun’s expected Monaco exit could open a route back to England.
The issue is no longer simply availability. Balogun’s profile is rising in real time, and Palace must decide whether Pierre Sage’s attack requires that level of investment.
For a club preparing for Europa League football, the calculation is clear. Waiting could allow the fee to climb further, especially if stronger rivals turn interest into formal offers.
Moving early would mean committing starter-level money to a forward still attracting a widening market.
That is the transfer test now facing Palace. Balogun fits an obvious attacking need, but his World Cup form has made the window more expensive and more competitive.
