Crystal Palace raid London rivals for 20-goal academy star

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of highly rated midfielder Amaari Sealey from AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee.

The teenager arrives after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign. He registered 20 goals and 25 assists across all competitions as Wimbledon’s Under-18s won a record four trophies.

AFC Wimbledon confirmed Sealey’s departure, with the League One club describing him as one of the most influential players in the EFL Youth Alliance last season.

Sealey joined Wimbledon’s academy in 2023 after previously spending time with West Ham United. He also had trial spells with Chelsea, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham before establishing himself at Plough Lane.

Palace secure another major academy talent

The midfielder’s remarkable attacking output accelerated his progress last season. He was included in a senior Wimbledon squad for the first time in January following his performances at youth level.

Academy manager Michael Hamilton praised the support which helped Sealey rediscover his confidence after spending time outside the academy system. Wimbledon director of football Craig Cope also said the club had retained a strong interest in Sealey’s future.

Palace continue to strengthen their youth structure alongside Pierre Sage’s first-team rebuild. The move comes after five Crystal Palace academy players signed their first professional contracts ahead of the new campaign.

Sealey’s ability to score and create from midfield gives Palace another high-upside prospect. His first challenge will be adapting to Category One football and competing for a place across the club’s Under-18 and Under-21 squads.

An immediate senior role is unlikely, but Palace have secured one of the EFL academy system’s standout performers after a season featuring 45 direct goal contributions.

The undisclosed fee and Wimbledon’s retained interest suggest both clubs expect Sealey’s value to rise as his development continues in south London.
