Crystal Palace kicked off pre-season in style, as they got a 5-1 win over Swindon Town, as Matheus Franca scored a second-half hat-trick, adding to Eddie Nketiah’s brace in the first half.
Despite the good result in their opening pre-season game, Palace fans are far from satisfied with their club’s performance in the transfer window so far.
Oscar Mingueza remains the Eagles’ only summer signing so far. The former Barcelona defender was brought in on free transfer, upon the expiry of his contract at Celta Vigo.

On the other hand, the Selhurst Park side are now yet again bracing themselves for the departures of some of their top stars from the previous campaign. Maxence Lacroix and Jean-Philipe Mateta are seemingly more closer to the exit door than ever.
Palace should undoubtedly be looking to strengthen new manager Pierre Sage’s squad for the new season. But as of yet, they are still searching for another breakthrough in transfer talks this summer.
Palace’s interest in Harvey Elliott
Recently, Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott was being linked with a move to the south London club, as the Eagles seemingly look to take advantage of Elliott’s uncertain future under Andoni Iraola.
Elliott spent the previous campaign on loan at Aston Villa. He only managed to feature for 284 minutes upon the conclusion of a poor spell at best.
The 23-year-old has already returned to his parent club, as he looks to start a fresh in the new campaign. Although the current scenario at Liverpool certainly poses a lot of obstacles for the midfielder if he is to succeed at Anfield.
Upsetting update on Elliott
Although a report from Football Insider has claimed that, Elliott is looking to take his chances under Iraola and doesn’t intend to leave the club at the moment.
There is little doubt regarding the player’s quality with the ball, but with someone like Florian Writz already playing in a similar position, Elliott will most likely find it hard to break into Iraola’s starting lineup this season.
Elliot, being 23 already, will need more regular minutes to bring up his career graph and reach his true potential in the coming years.
Despite Elliot’s intention to stay and fight for his place at Liverpool, Palace might not just give up on their chase for the midfielder yet, as things might change drastically during the final weeks of the summer transfer window. By then, he will have a much clearer picture of his role in Liverpool under the Spanish manager.
