Crystal Palace submit offer to sign Chelsea defender

Crystal Palace have submitted a loan offer with an obligation to buy for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi as Pierre Sage looks to replace Maxence Lacroix.

The Eagles had already made the France international their priority centre-back target following Lacroix’s £52million move in the opposite direction.

Palace have now formalised their interest. SportsView reports, citing Fabrice Hawkins, that a loan proposal containing an obligation to buy has been submitted to Chelsea, with negotiations between the two clubs continuing.

Axel Disasi offer moves Crystal Palace talks forward

The development represents a significant step from earlier this week, when Palace and Chelsea were initially discussing the possibility of a deal.

Disasi remains Palace’s preferred option to fill the space left by Lacroix, while a meeting has also taken place between Palace and the defender’s representatives.

The 28-year-old already knows the Premier League well. Chelsea signed him from Monaco in 2023 before subsequent loan spells with Aston Villa and West Ham.

His most recent spell came at the London Stadium during the second half of last season. Palace now appear ready to give him another opportunity in the Premier League rather than asking Sage to rely solely on his existing defensive options.

Recruitment is moving quickly elsewhere at Selhurst Park. ReadCrystalPalace reported on Wednesday that Palace are also in advanced talks over an £11million move for Zavier Gozo, as Sage’s squad continues to take shape before the new campaign.

An agreement with Chelsea has not yet been reached for Disasi.

However, Palace progressing from interest to a formal offer suggests their efforts to replace Lacroix are beginning to accelerate.
