Everton circle Daniel Munoz as Crystal Palace face fight to keep star

Daniel Munoz has been a key performer for Crystal Palace, resulting in one of the most successful years in the club’s recent history.

Daniel Munoz has just come off the back of a brilliant World Cup campaign with Colombia. He scored twice in five appearances as his country reached the round of 16. Now, it seems his performances have caught the attention of a few big clubs.

Everton are the latest name in the hat. According to Sky Sports, the Toffees are interested in bringing the Crystal Palace defender to the Hill Dickinson Stadium. And they’re not the only ones.

The 30-year-old has been a massive player for Palace since joining from Genk in January 2024. He’s played over 100 games for the Eagles and has been part of something special, helping the club lift the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League within the last 15 months. Losing him now would be a blow.

Everton want a Right-Back badly

David Moyes has a problem of his own on his hands. Seamus Coleman left Everton earlier this summer, and Nathan Patterson doesn’t seem to be in the manager’s plans for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign. Jake O’Brien, who’s naturally a centre-back, filled in there last term, but that’s not a long-term solution.

So Everton are in the market for a new right-back. They’ve looked at Celtic’s Alistair Johnston, but the massive price tag Celtic have slapped on him has raised doubts. That’s pushed them towards Munoz.

The Toffees are already close to sealing a swap deal with Palace that would see Brennan Johnson head to Merseyside and Dwight McNeil come the other way. Now it looks like Moyes could end up taking two players from Selhurst Park.

The competition for Daniel Munoz is fierce

Everton aren’t the only ones circling. Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan are also interested in Munoz. The Colombian has two years left on his contract with the Eagles and Palace also hold the option for a further year. That long-term deal gives the club strong negotiating leverage. They don’t have to sell.

But Palace face uncertainty over Munoz’s future. The interest from multiple European clubs is real, and with the player coming off a strong World Cup, his stock has never been higher.

Munoz scored five goals and supplied four assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for Palace last season. He’s proven he can handle the Premier League intensity. His physical work rate and attacking contribution make him a valuable asset.

New Eagles manager Pierre Sage could be desperate to hold on to the 30-year-old as he prepares for life in the Premier League. The Frenchman replaced Oliver Glasner in June and will be keen to retain some key players heading into next season. Munoz is certainly one of those.

The Premier League season kicks off next week. Palace have a decision to make. Do they cash in on a player who’s at the peak of his powers, or do they dig their heels in and keep one of their most important performers? As Everton joins in and the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea are already lurking, this one could run right to the wire.
