Crystal Palace have been urged to remain patient with Pierre Sage as the manager continues to settle into life at Selhurst Park.
The Eagles endured a difficult start to the Premier League season under Pierre Sage, but their form has improved in recent weeks. Palace have lost just one of their last five matches across all competitions, collecting impressive results against Fulham, Middlesbrough, Lech Poznan and Leeds.
However, suggestions of discontent behind the scenes have continued to circulate.
Mick Brown backs Pierre Sage to stay
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown believes Sage is putting the foundations in place at Palace, even if his methods have “ruffled a few feathers” during his early months in charge.
“Crystal Palace are going to need to be patient with Pierre Sage,” Brown told Football Insider.
He believes Sage needs time to get his ideas across both on the pitch and inside the dressing room, while insisting the manager should be allowed to handle his squad in the way he sees fit.
“As things stand, I’m not seeing any signs that the players aren’t in support of the manager,” Brown added.
He pointed to the draw against Leeds as evidence, saying Palace showed plenty of fight and were the better side in the match.
Brown also warned that dismissing Sage now would be a rash decision.
“I think it would be a very rash decision to sack him now,” he said.
For Brown, the focus should remain on the positive signs emerging from Palace rather than the concerns being raised around the squad.
