Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish wants Oliver Glasner to receive a warm welcome when the former manager returns to Selhurst Park with Nottingham Forest.
Glasner left Crystal Palace when his contract expired at the end of last season before taking charge of Forest in July. His first return to south London will come on October 11, when Forest face the Eagles after the international break.
Parish believes the Austrian deserves a positive reception after his time at the club.
Steve Parish calls for Glasner reception
“I really hope he gets a fantastic reception,” Parish told The Athletic. “I would be mortified if he gets anything other than the roof blown off. It was unbelievable fun working with him, even in the difficult moments. I don’t care. That’s what it’s all about.”
Parish also revealed that he and Glasner remain friends and still stay in contact.
“I think we consider each other friends and we still have the odd text and chat. I think an enormous amount of him, he’s a brilliant guy.”
The Palace chairman wants supporters to focus on what Glasner achieved during his time in charge rather than creating unnecessary tension around his return.
“Why don’t we buck the trend? Let’s not try to go down the rabbit hole of all these kinds of pantomime narratives and just think about what he did for us.”
Parish also praised the working relationship between the club and Glasner, highlighting the environment, players and supporters during his spell in charge.
“He brought his expertise and desire to win, then we did what we did.”
