Palace Striker Faces Lengthy Spell Out

Kwesi Appiah could face up to nine months on the sidelines after picking up a cruciate ligament injury whilst on international duty with Ghana, ahead of their African Cup of Nations qualifier with Mauritius.

The 24-year-old flew back to England after picking up the injury in training, to obtain more information and treatment with a scan confirming the worst for a striker who started to show his true colours last season with loan spells at Cambridge and Reading as well as featuring for Ghana in the African Cup of Nations.

Playing for Cambridge United for the first part of the season ahead of the AFCON tournament in January, the striker made 23 appearances in all competitions which saw him find the net on eight occasions which subsequently caught the eye of Ghana manager Avram Grant for an international call-up.

Once he returned from the African Cup of Nations, Appiah featured in a number of games for the Under-21s at Crystal Palace in which he scored four goals in two games against Cardiff and Leeds with the latter being the game he scored a hat-trick in.

This injury could now set back his recent improvements at the club which saw him awarded with a new contract at the end of last season. Do you think Appiah could bring himself back from this injury?
