Croydon Advertiser are suggesting that Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has confirmed that highly rated winger Yannick Bolasie is currently suffering from hamstring problems.
The 26-year-old DR Congo winger missed the Eagles’ 4-0 win against Supersport United in Cape Town on Friday. Pardew’s men are in the final against Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon on Sunday, but Bolasie is set to not be risked.
In the last three years that Bolasie has been wearing the red and blue strip, this is his first real significant injury. The South London club are hopeful that he’ll be able to return for their game against Championship side Fulham next weekend.
Following the 4-0 win on Friday, Pardew said:
“Unfortunately we’re carrying a few knocks. Bolasie is struggling a little bit with a hamstring (problem).
“Wilfried (Zaha) has recovered from his toe (problem) and may play a small part (on Sunday).
“We’ve still got Macca (James McArthur) and Glenn (Murray) to come back in, and I’ve protected some of the guys for the final.
“It will be a great game against Sporting Lisbon and we look forward to that.”
With only two weeks to go until the return of the Premier League season, Crystal Palace are getting in as much training as possible.
Pardew’s men kick-off the 2015/16 campaign at Carrow Road to play Premier League newcomers Norwich City, before returning to Selhurst Park for their first home fixture of the season coming up against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.
