Paul Merson predicts Crystal Palace to finish higher than Tottenham

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has been making bold choices when asked to state how he think the Premier League table will look at the end of the season. The Sky Sports employee has predicted that Crystal Palace will finish above Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool this season.

Collecting nine points from a possible 12, many people have been impressed with the start that Alan Pardew’s side has made and are looking strong contenders for a high finish. And on this basis, Merson is a keen believer that Pardew will keep his side strong throughout the season, finishing fifth therefore claiming a European spot.

Merson went on to add that he thinks that Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal will finish in 3rd, Chelsea 2nd and Manchester City coming out as the Premier League champions.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Merson said:

I like Crystal Palace and if they stay fit as a team, they won’t be a million miles off. They’re not in Europe and theyve got very good players. People are going to say they won’t be up there because they’re not Tottenham or Liverpool, but half of their players would get into Tottenham or Liverpool’s team.

I think they [Spurs] needed a forward. If they’d bought Saido Berahino, I’d have moved them up a couple of spaces, but there’s too much pressure on Harry Kane.

He hasn’t scored yet, and I know last year he scored in November and scored 30 goals, but surely not this year as well?

The Eagles mightily impressed by beating the current champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before the international break, and on the return of domestic football, Pardew’s men will welcome Manchester City to Selhurst Park.

matchday.
