In comments that won’t go down well on Tyneside, Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko has claimed that his side are of smaller stature to Crystal Palace.
Currently on international duty with the French national team, Sissoko was asked why he struggles to maintain a place in the French side, in an interview with France Football.
‘”Today, look at those who play in my position. There’s Blaise (Matuidi) who did extraordinary things at PSG last season, Paul Pogba who is wonderful for Juventus, Yohan Cabaye who has just signed for Crystal Palace and Morgan Schneiderlin who is now at Manchester United.”

However, it wasn’t purely midfield competition that fuelled his answer.
“Compared to me, they all play in big clubs.”
Although the likes of PSG, Juventus and Manchester United are regulars in the ‘European giants’ debate, the placement of Palace into that bracket above Newcastle is sure to irk fans in the North East, despite the fact that the current league table backs up Sissoko’s claim.
Palace currently sit second in the Premer League table, while Newcastle are languishing in 19th, just above local rivals Sunderland.
Sissoko started for France on Friday in a friendly against Portugal, alongside Yohan Cabaye in the French midfield.
The Palace man was taken off at half-time after feeling “slight pain around the pubic bone”.
