Crystal Palace defender Ryan Inniss has returned to the club from his loan spell at Port Vale to receive treatment on a dislocated shoulder, as reported by The Stoke Sentinal.
The defender suffered the injury during Vale’s 2-1 win at Fleetwood on Saturday, and according to their manager Rob Page, it was the decision of Crystal Palace to recall him:
Palace have called him back which is what we thought they would do. His shoulder popped out so it is not something we can make that decision on. We have to send him back to the parent club. Understandably they want to see him and they will assess it. Normally if it is a little muscle tear then we can get on and rehabilitate the player and get him back in as soon as possible. But with the extent of the injury we think it is best to get him down there, let them assess it, and then we will know more.
Inniss’ loan move to Part Vale is a season long one, so the likelihood is that he’ll return to the League One club once the injury has cleared up.
The 20-year old defender came through the youth ranks at Palace, and despite being so young, Vale are the fifth different club he’s has a loan spell with, having already been sent to Cheltenham Town, Luton Town, Gillingham and Yeovil Town in the past.
The staff at Palace will be happy to hear that Inniss was making good impressions at the League One club, as highlighted by the comments made about him by Page:
It is a blow for us, of course it is. Ryan Inniss was a big part of the changing room and a big character for us, but that is football, we have to move on and get on with it.
