Crystal Palace have reportedly opened talks with one time Norwich City target Dwight Gayle about signing a contract extension, according to The Guardian.
Gayle arrived at Selhurst Park in 2013 from League One side Peterborough United for an initial fee of £3.5 million.
The 24-year-old came close to joining Bristol City in the summer for £9million but rejected the Championship side, despite having only started 20 Premier League games.
Norwich City were also interested in signing the Palace forward but with their bid coming just to hours before the deadline, plus the sale of Glenn Murray to Bournemouth, the Eagles refused to let their man leave.
The striker, whose deal expires in 2017, has since started in the league against Watford and also scored a hat-trick in the League Cup against Charlton.
Palace are hoping that Gayle joins the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Scott Dann and James McArthur in deciding to extend his stay at the club.
