Cabaye not surprised by Manchester United striker’s form

Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye has said that he isn’t surprised by the form of Anthony Martial at Manchester United.

Martial made the move to Old Trafford in the last Transfer Deadline Day, making the switch from French side AS Monaco in a deal which came with a record-breaking transfer fee for the English club.

However, despite the heavy price tag, the 19-year-old was quick to find his feet in England and has scored three goals in four games for Louis van Gaal’s side.

Cabaye, who is alongside Martial preparing for their friendlies against Armenia and Denmark in this current international break, has praised just how mature the striker has become and backs him to continue with his fine goal scoring form.

Martial probably surprised a few when he came over to England and settled in straight away and fired in goals. However, international team-mate knew fully well that Martial had what it takes.

Speaking to Goal, Cabaye said:

They speak about him [Martial in England]. I am not surprised about how quickly he fits in and what he’s able to do on the pitch. He’s very talented.

He’s very young but by the way he plays and behaves on and outside the pitch, he seems very calm and adult. He could manage all the fuss about his transfer and the fees.

At the end of the day, the poor guy did not ask for nothing in term of the amount spent but it comes back on him.

He’s doing very well. I wish he’ll keep doing that way. He has great abilities. I hope he’ll leave his mark on the Premier League.

matchday.
