Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew says that every team that faces Manchester United this season will be focused on keeping Anthony Martial quiet.
Pardew saw his Palace side hold United to a 0-0 draw at the weekend and spoke after the game about how he felt that by keeping the Frenchman quiet, his side nullified their opponent’s biggest threat.
We didn’t give Martial an inch. Not an inch. It was a big target for us to stop him and we felt that if we could stop him we could stop their creative angle. And when you take into account his age, that’s some recommendation.
Pardew also warned Louis van Gaal and his staff that every team that United face for the rest of the season will be looking to stop the 19-year-old.
With such a young player, he’ll have to be very, very careful, the Manchester United manager, to keep his exuberance there. Because we’re all looking to stop him.

Martial started his Man United career superbly, and it was his early form which would have led to Alan Pardew game planning to ensure that his side did all they can to stop the former Monaco player.
Time will tell if Pardew’s prediction is correct and more teams look to keep the Frenchman quiet. With United drawing their last three games 0-0, they’ll be hoping that this isn’t the case.
