Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha has revealed that he gives over a tenth of his monthly salary to charity.
The former Manchester United winger likes to keep his feet on the ground and even with all of the money and fame that comes from being a top flight footballer, he still likes to give back to his community.
Despite representing England at international level, the 23-year-old was born in the Ivory Coast before moving to Croydon at a young age, and revealed that he likes to give back to charity.
I give a tenth of my salary to charity every month so in terms of giving back, I do my best. That’s not just charities here, it’s charities in the Ivory Coast as well.
He revealed that his Mum is a huge reason for his charitable actions, with her making sure that he gives the money to good causes to help out those who are less privileged.
My mum makes sure of it as soon as the end of the month comes; I do that as my good deed to help.
Away from talking about his good deeds, Zaha also praised manager Alan Pardew, who re-signed the 23-year-old for Palace after his failed move to United.
Alan Pardew speaks to you more, he doesn’t keep you in the dark about things — that’s why I prefer someone who is open. He tells you what you are not doing right and praises you when you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. He’s given life and hope to the whole team. He’s helped me get the confidence back after my time at United.
