Crystal Palace have gone from being perennial strugglers to top-six contenders in just one short year, and Eagles defender Damien Delaney reckons it’s the boss that has made all the difference, according to Reuters.
In an interview with the club website, Delaney has praised Alan Pardew and spoken about the changes he has brought to the Selhurst club, who currently sit sixth in the Barclays Premier League, with Christmas right around the corner.
“He’s put confidence into certain players who were a bit lacking, and he’s taken the shackles off in the way we play,” Delaney said.

“When the gaffer took over we went on a pretty good run and it feels like we’ve started this season in the same vein.”
Indeed, Palace started the 2015/16 campaign in tremendous form, meaning a recent slip in results has hardly affected the club’s fortunes. Now in mid-December, Palace currently sit in a Europa League spot, surpassing the expectations of many.
Again, Delaney claims much of this form is down to Pardew and his methods.
“The coaching staff who have come in, and the quality that was added in January and during the summer has brought a lot of positivity and we’ve improved a lot as a team.”
Next up for Palace is the visit of 12th-placed Southampton, the last challenge before the hectic Christmas schedule.
