Newcastle United are monitoring the situation surrounding Crystal Palace’s want-away striker Dwight Gayle, according to TalkSport.
The 25-year-old striker hasn’t been a major part of Alan Pardew’s plans since October, featuring just once for the Eagles.
Gayle is reportedly being chased by fellow Premier League side Norwich City, another club in need of firepower as they attempt to stay in the top flight.
Championship promotion favourites Derby County are also interested the striker who nearly left Palace in the summer after Bristol City had a £6million bid accepted.
Gayle has scored 23 goals in 64 appearances for the London club since arriving from Peterborough for a then club record fee of £4.5million.
Gayle would offer Newcastle some much needed striking options with Papiss Cisse having being ruled out for three months with a serious groin injury and the struggling Aleksandar Mitrovic not finding the net in the last four games.
