Palace join Newcastle, Stoke & Tottenham in race for striker

Crystal Palace are set to join Newcastle United, Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign West Brom striker Saido Berahino, according to a report from the Express and Star.

Berahino’s ‘on again, off again’ transfer saga was the major talking point of last summer and after West Brom refused to let him join Spurs, the striker said he wouldn’t play for the club again.

He later apologized for those comments and did return to Tony Pulis’ side but he’s not had the huge impact that many thought he would.

However, the 22-year-old poor goalscoring record this has seemingly not put Palace off the idea of signing him as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season.

Palace’s issues in front have goal have been well documented.

Marouane Chamakh is probably going to leave the club in the summer, as is Fraizer Campbell. Emmanuel Adebayor hasn’t made the impact that many had hoped he would and could also exit, leaving just Dwight Gayle and Connor Wickham as genuine forward options.

Berahino may have had a down year but his talent is unquestionable and he could be a great addition to the Palace squad.
