Serie A club Cagliari interested in Emmanuel Adebayor

Recently released striker Emmanuel Adebayor is a target for newly promoted Cagliari, according to Sky Sports Italia.

Last season’s Serie B champions are looking to bolster their squad after a one year absence from the top flight of Italian football, with manager Massimo Rastelli also looking at former Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari.

The 32-year-old striker made 15 appearances for the Eagles last season in all competitions and after a mixed run of form, it was decided by Pardew that it was best to release the former Manchester City & Tottenham player.

Adebayor received a mixed reaction from Palace fans with some seeing his uses with others seeing better options within the squad.

The striker made three appearances in the Eagles’ FA Cup campaign which saw Pardew’s side reach the final, only to lose late in extra time to Manchester United.

Crystal Palace have bolstered the squad with three players so far this season with Andros Townsend, Steve Mandanda and James Tomkins. Pardew is currently looking for a striker to add to his squad ahead of the new campaign with Christian Benteke and Sadio Berahino being linked with a move to the club more recently.

Pardew’s men travel to Colchester, AFC Wimbledon and Fulham this week as they look to continue their progress from their recent tour of the USA.
