Alan Pardew has revealed that it was a tough decision on whether to send youngster Sullay Kaikai out on loan, with the winger being the closest player to the first team.
The 21-year-old is currently out on loan to Championship side Brentford and has impressed in his first two games at the club, recently featuring against former Palace captain Mile Jedinak who made his home debut for new club Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Kaikai already has an assist to his name and is looking to build on his early form at Griffin Park, as he attempts to show Pardew his worthiness in the first team when he returns from his loan spell in January.

Speaking to the South London Press, Alan Pardew spoke about sending Kaikai out on loan and the thoughts running through his head about a loan move for the youngster:
“He was the closest out of all the younger players for the first team. I pondered over keeping him – I could have possibly done that.
“But he wouldn’t have started. He’s going to have a bigger impact if I let him play and get more experience. So I made the decision for the second half of the season maybe to give myself that opportunity, to say ‘well, look, go and play these games and let me go with what I’ve got at Palace’.
“He may have played a few games or have been a substitute to impact it. Let’s see what happens from now until January. If Sullay does really, really well at Brentford then I will definitely look at him for the second half of the season.”
