Abdennour turns down Palace offer

Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour appears to have rejected an offer from Crystal Palace.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, as cited by GFFN, the Tunisian centre-back is set to pen a deal with Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg, with Valencia looking to offload the experienced defender.

The former Toulouse man is poised to join Roberto Mancini’s side on an initial two-year loan deal as he looks to take the next step for his career, delving into the Russian league.

It’s claimed in the report that Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, like Palace, made contact with Valencia over a move for the towering central defender. However, it looks as though he is keen on making the switch to Zenit.

The Eagles are looking around for new central defenders, among other areas of the pitch that need strengthening, and have been linked with an £8 million move for West Ham centre-back Jose Fonte in the recent times.
