- Liverpool long time admirers of Adam Wharton
- The midfielder’s conference league performance very impressive
- Palace open to selling for a high fee
Crystal Palace’s midfielder Adam Wharton has been attracting attention from domestic and European clubs after an incredible two-and-a-half seasons at the club, with fellow Premier League side Liverpool expressing interest.
The UEFA Conference League Final player of the match has been one of Palace’s top performers under Oliver Glasner, attracting the attention of fans beyond the Eagles.
Recent reports have confirmed Wharton is keen on a move out of South London to a Champions League club to continue the progression of his career after his integral role in Palace’s Conference League trophy.
Although Palace has secured Europa League, with the 22-year-old playing a crucial role, he is hoping for a tougher challenge.
Premier League football clubs Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked to the midfielder, with the latter two able to promise Champions League.

Long-term admirers Liverpool very impressed
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool have been very impressed with Wharton in the last year, especially his performance when Palace travelled to Anfield.
Brown highlighted: “I was watching him closely in the Conference League final, and I think that’s the best I’ve seen him play, and he was outstanding for Crystal Palace.
“The thing is for Crystal Palace, I’m not the only person who will have been impressed, and scouts from top clubs will have been keeping a close eye on him.
“Liverpool have been long-term admirers and I have no doubt they will have had people at the game to keep an eye on him.
The strong impression from Wharton’s performances could encourage Liverpool to make an offer, Brown remarked: “It wouldn’t surprise me now to see them make a move for Wharton, having been tracking him, and they could make it difficult for Crystal Palace to keep him.”
High value set by Palace
The Eagles have valued Wharton at £100m, a record sale for the club, but a price tag which is causing several interested clubs to hesitate.
The price shows how much Palace relies on and values Wharton’s role in the midfield, and wants to maximise the investment which can be made from an early exit. The English international’s contract is not set to expire until 2029.
Palace fans will be hopeful the club will stand by this price tag and not let their most integral midfielder leave for an undervalued price. With the strong history of converting Championship players into stars, Palace’s investment of £100m could be exciting to watch.
