Crystal Palace ready to sell £25m striker after failed West Ham move

Crystal Palace are reportedly considering offloading Eddie Nketiah if they receive suitable offers for the striker. The English forward has endured an injury-ridden spell with the South Londoners.

According to The Athletic, Palace will entertain selling Nketiah, although there is unlikely to be any serious interest in the former Arsenal frontman. He spent a lengthy spell on the sidelines last season, appearing 19 times across competitions.

Nketiah has been at Selhurst Park since the summer of 2024, when the club forked out £25m for his services. He has failed to live up to expectations, largely due to recurring injury setbacks.

Palace weigh up Nketiah sale

The report claims that Nketiah nearly joined West Ham United in January for £27m. A thigh problem saw the move fall through and he instead stayed at Selhurst Park.

The 27-year-old had been closing in on a return to action before suffering a hamstring injury in April. He was unable to play the last stages of Oliver Glasner’s reign.

It’s unlikely that West Ham will come back in for the Englishman, given they were relegated to the EFL Championship. There’s been no word on whether he’s received interest from other clubs as it stands.

Last chance saloon

Nketiah has plenty of talent and has scored several important goals during his time with Palace. He scored a famous 90+7th minute winner in a 2-1 win against Liverpool last season.

The main issue has been his recurring fitness issues, as he has been unable to get a good run of games under his belt. He may have a pre-season to prove himself to new manager Pierre Sage and one final season to win over the decision-makers.

Nketiah has scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 56 games since joining Palace. He has won the FA Cup and the UEFA Conference League with the Eagles.
