Crystal Palace and AS Roma have expressed interest in signing Fenerbahce defender Jayden Oosterwolde, according to reports in Turkey.
Journalist Doruk Tecimer told broadcaster TRT Spor that both clubs have made initial contact with the 25-year-old’s representatives ahead of potential bids. Tecimer added that while interest has also been registered from clubs in Spain and France, the player’s preference is a move to either the Premier League or Serie A.
However, no UK sources or local reporting have confirmed any contact between Palace and the Turkish side at this stage.
Where would he fit under Pierre Sage?
Oosterwolde, who moved to Istanbul from Parma in 2023, has featured predominantly at left-back and as a left-sided centre-back for Fenerbahce.
That versatility matches the profile required by new Palace manager Pierre Sage. During his spell in charge of Lens, Sage regularly deployed a 3-4-2-1 system requiring wide defenders comfortable playing out from the back while covering significant distance along the flank.
Palace currently rely on Tyrick Mitchell as their primary left-sided option, meaning additional cover on that side remains an area of interest during the transfer window.
Analysis…
Speculation surrounding Premier League interest in Turkey-based players is common during transfer windows, often driven by agent negotiation rather than concrete offers.
While Oosterwolde’s attributes suit the squad depth Sage requires ahead of the new campaign, the reports remain unconfirmed by either club.
One to watch for now.
