After more than ten years coming through the ranks at Selhurst Park, Dublin-born left-back Tayo Adaramola is taking on an exciting new challenge.
The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international has officially completed a permanent switch to Belgian Pro League outfit Cercle Brugge K.S.V., putting pen to paper on a four-year contract keeping him with the Groen-Zwart until 2030.
It is always a bit bitter-sweet seeing a homegrown talent fly the nest, but with nearly 80 senior appearances under his belt, the energetic full-back is ready to stake his claim as a regular starter in the Belgian top flight.
From Academy prodigy to first-team debut
Adaramola first joined the Eagles’ academy at under-12 level back in 2015. His raw pace, relentless work rate, and attacking threat quickly made him one to watch in the youth setups, culminating in his first professional deal in 2020.
Palace faithful got their first glimpse of his potential in early 2022. He handed in an impressive cameo off the bench in an FA Cup fourth-round victory over Hartlepool United before earning his full senior start in the fifth-round win against Stoke City. The following campaign, he proved vital in driving Palace’s Under-21 side all the way to the Premier League International Cup Final.
Earning his stripes on loan
To build up first-team sharpness, Adaramola embarked on a series of tough, character-building loans across the Football League and abroad. Fans in Belgium will already be familiar with him following an eye-catching 14-game stint with RWD Molenbeek during the 2023/24 season.
He went on to feature for Stockport County, played a major role helping Bradford City secure promotion to League One in the second half of 2024/25, and continued his growth through the 2025/26 campaign with Leyton Orient and a 16-game Championship stint at Sheffield Wednesday.
That consistent club form paid off internationally too, earning him his senior Ireland debut in a dominant 5-0 win over Grenada back in May.
Belgian welcome & warm Palace farewells
Speaking to Cercle Brugge’s official website upon his arrival, the young Irishman could not hide his enthusiasm:
“I’m very happy that I can call Cercle my new home from now on. I had a good feeling right from the very first conversations. I can’t wait to get started and show what I’m capable of.”
Cercle Brugge welcomed their new recruit with a classic cúpla focal, confirming: “The Irish left-back joins from Crystal Palace and signed a contract with Groen-Zwart until 2030.”
Back in South London, the sentiment was equally warm as Crystal Palace released an official statement honoring his decade of dedication:
“Having joined Palace aged 12, Adaramola signed his first professional contract in 2020. He made his senior debut in February 2022, coming on in the FA Cup fourth-round victory over Hartlepool United before starting the fifth-round win over Stoke City. The following season, Adaramola played a key role in Palace’s Under-21s reaching the Premier League International Cup Final.
The defender subsequently enjoyed loan spells with RWD Molenbeek and Stockport County. He then helped Bradford City secure promotion to League One in the second half of 24/25, before spending the 25/26 season on loan with Leyton Orient and Sheffield Wednesday.
After more than a decade in South London, everyone at the club would like to thank Tayo for his efforts and wish him the very best as he begins this new chapter in the Belgian top flight.”
Everyone in South London will certainly be keeping an eye on Belgium and wishing Tayo all the best as he takes this huge step forward in his career
