Ismaïla Sarr transfer saga deepens as agent drops social media hint during Galatasaray talks

When a cryptic social media update emerges from a player’s inner circle in the final week of a transfer window, it rarely happens by accident

A simple Instagram story featuring the phrase “Trust the process…” paired with the Senegalese flag (🇸🇳) from Ismaïla Sarr’s long-time agent, Thierno Seydi, has sent shockwaves through Selhurst Park.

Coming amidst intense negotiations between Crystal Palace and Turkish champions Galatasaray, the post feels like a deliberate signal that the 28-year-old winger’s time in South London may be drawing to a close.

A summer of standoff: The valuation gap

Sarr’s future has become one of the premier sagas of the August deadline. Following a sensational 2025–26 campaign where he netted 21 goals in 45 appearances—leading Palace to UEFA Conference League gloryhis market value has soared.

Galatasaray have made the Senegalese international their primary target for the summer, but negotiations have hit a financial wall:

  • Palace’s Valuation: The Eagles hold a firm stance, demanding between €55m and €60m (£47m–£51m) to consider a sale.
  • Galatasaray’s Offer: The Turkish side submitted bids structured around €40m–€45m.
  • The Impasse: Palace rejected the proposals, with manager Pierre Sage emphasizing that Sarr remains under contract for three more years and is considered essential to his plans.

Groin injury or transfer agitation? The Everton omission

Speculation reached boiling point over the weekend when Sarr was noticeably left out of Palace’s matchday squad in their opening-weekend 2–0 defeat at Everton.

The decision to omit Sarr especially with his agent Thierno Seydi pushing for a lucrative move behind the scenes sparked immediate theories among the fanbase. Reports out of Turkey claimed the winger was refusing to play in order to force an exit. However, Pierre Sage moved quickly to quell the rumours post-match, maintaining that the decision was purely medical rather than transfer-driven.

Sarr’s omission from the squad, paired with Seydi’s social media post shortly after, paints a picture of a player’s camp actively pushing for the move to Istanbul where Champions League football and substantial financial terms await.

Why Palace hold the cards

For Crystal Palace, sanctioning Sarr’s exit this late in the window presents a massive tactical risk. With central defender Chadi Riad out long-term with a knee injury, losing their top scorer from last season could severely derail their domestic campaign.

However, the financial realities of modern football mean every player has a price. Having signed Sarr from Marseille for roughly £12.5m in 2024, recouping upwards of £50m represents a massive return on investment.

If Galatasaray bridge the remaining valuation gap before the deadline, the cryptic “process” Thierno Seydi alluded to may very well end with a flight to Istanbul.
