Espanyol enter race for Palace target Babacar

Crystal Palace could face competition from Espanyol in their reported pursuit of Sassuolo striker Khouma Babacar.

According to claims from the Italian media last week, the Eagles have expressed an interest in recruiting the forward, whose future in Serie A is currently uncertain.

However, should Palace firm up their interest and pursue Babacar, they could be faced with stiff opposition from elsewhere.

Novantesimo, as cited in a report from Calciomercato, states that La Liga side Espanyol have entered the race to sign the front-man from Sassuolo this summer.

The Spanish outfit enjoyed a good season domestically last term and were able to secure their place in the Europa League after finishing seventh in the top flight.

Borja Iglesias was notably impressive up front for Espanyol, but ahead of what promises to be an intriguing season for the club, they have seemingly set their sights on adding to their attacking options, with Babacar linked.

Palace may need to move quickly if they are to lure the Senegalese striker to Selhurst Park this summer.
