Crystal Palace News Today: Liverpool Clash, Rosenior Admiration, Jordan James

  • Crystal Palace face Liverpool
  • Liam Rosenior still admired by Eagles
  • Jordan James latest midfield target

Crystal Palace are in action today when they face Liverpool at Anfield and Oliver Glasner takes charge of his final game against the Merseysiders. The Austrian will be hoping to finish his reign with an unbeaten record away to the Reds.

The Eagles head into the game following a 0-0 draw against West Ham United on Monday. That still gives them hope of European qualification via the league but Glasner has stressed the need to win every remaining match.

An encounter with Liverpool is one of six remaining league games and is always a thriller. Take, for example, the last-gasp 2-1 win at Selhurst Park in the reverse fixture.

Palace vs Liverpool

Glasner has Adam Wharton available after he missed the West Ham draw. The English midfielder was forced off in the 2-1 loss (4-2 aggregate win) against Fiorentina last Thursday.

Evann Guessand and Eddie Nketiah are unavailable, and the latter will miss the rest of the season. But other than that, there are no new injury concerns for the clash with Liverpool.

The Eagles can throw the Reds’ top five challenge into jeopardy should they take all three points. Arne Slot is well aware of the difficult day that is in store for his men.

Liam Rosenior Admired

Glasner is taking charge of his last two months as Palace manager and says he’s “loving it.” There was nothing to love about Liam Rosenior’s three-month tenure at Chelsea, which ended in the sack three days ago.

Rosenior is now available and appears to still have admirers at Selhurst Park despite his dissapointing spell in west London. The English coach was said to have been on the club’s radar after overseeing Strasbourg’s 2-1 win against Glasner’s side earlier this season.

There are other candidates on the shortlist to replace Glasner, including Andoni Iraola. But Chelsea might now give the South Londoners competition for the Spaniard, who is leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season.

Palace Plot James Move

This summer’s transfer business will be conducted for a new manager, and it seems a new midfielder is a priority. Reports claim that Jordan James is on the club’s wishlist, although Everton is also keen.

James has been on loan at Leicester City from the French side Rennes. He could cost around £20-25m but doesn’t want to stay at the King Power following relegation to League One.

Palace need to prepare for life without Daichi Kamada, who is following Glasner out of the club. Adam Wharton’s future is also in doubt amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
